Karen Rothman-Fried Obituary

ROTHMAN-FRIED--Karen Stephanie, 36, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and teacher, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 16. Karen lived and enjoyed life fully; with an ever-present smile, she loved deeply, embraced challenges and was always ready for new adventures. She loved her family, friends, and students, her cats, visiting new countries, yoga, developing creative lesson plans, and basking in the love of her longtime friend and new husband. We will miss her spirit, energy, beauty and good humor. Karen is survived by her husband Andrew Fried, parents Diane and Ronald Rothman, parents-in-law Janice Cimberg, Bernie Fried and Nina Gershon, grandmother-in-law Freda Cimberg, brother and sister-in-law Jeffrey and Laurie Rothman, brother-in-law Jonathan Fried and sister-inlaw Sharon Greenberger, nephews Noam, Tal, Zev and nieces Madelyn and Josie, and aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held at Congregation Beth Elohim, 271 Garfield Place, Brooklyn, on Wednesday at 11am. Private burial to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.

It's been some years now since we lost this great soul. Today would've been her 48th birthday. 12 years missed. I'll miss every next one, from the 13th to the 107th.

You're never far from my thoughts, Karen. The world was far better when you were here. You'll be forever missed.

Happy Birthday dear friend. xo

Dear Andrew,
Although you do not know me, I just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to you and Karen's family. I just searched to reconnect with her on facebook and learned of her passing. My heart goes out to you. I went to Kutshers camp with Karen and rememeber many fond memories. One in particluar was spending the weekend with her in Brooklyn (i think we were in 8th grade), and walking the Brooklyn Bridge! Her energy, laughter and smile will be long remembered. You and her family are in my thoughts.

Absolutely devastated by the news I have just read, with much delay. I was only trying to get back into contact with an old friend, and was already looking forward to a chat when the whole thing overthrew me. May her beauty, energy, friendliness and affection be remembered. Let her gentle soul watch over those she loved and still loves, Let there be the blessing of her smile on our lives. My deepest sympathy goes out to Andrew and her family.

Andrew,
We have never met, but Karen and I went to summer camp (Kutsher's Sports Academy) together over 20 years ago. I just learned about what happened last November and am at a loss over what to write. She was always such a sweet, wonderful person and full of energy.
I have read your blog and appreciate your sharing your heart with the world.I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Your eloquent words express a beautiful love and unfailing faith. The world must mourn for the loss of such a radiant being, but her presence felt by many even now, is a comfort to those who miss her, no doubt.

I didn't know Karen personally, but I have heard a lot about her since working at the Lycee Francais de New York. She sounds like an amazing, dynamic woman full of life and vigor who was enjoying the happiest time in her life. An example of someone who lived in the moment, and lived it fully. Marie has always recounted many fun and touching stories about Karen, and now we are talking about her every day - keeping her alive at the Lycee and in our hearts. She was an incredible friend , and she will not be forgotten. I hope you can feel God's love and Karen's spirit in this difficult time.
