Edwin Jacobson Obituary

JACOBSON--Edwin Died peacefully at his ranch in Goliad, Texas on September 12. "LEADER OF INDUSTRY." In his accomplished career he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Milwaukee Land Company, Heartland Partners, L.P. and CMC Heartland Partners, L.P., and in those capacities was responsible for managing and selling a large array of properties across the United States previously owned by the Milwaukee Railroad. He also led Heartland Technology, Inc., an investor in technology, as its President and Chief Executive Officer. In addition, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Avatar Holdings, Inc., a real estate development company located in Florida, and as President of UV Industries, Inc., a conglomerate with interests in copper and gold mining, steel manufacturing and electric products. He was a board member of numerous companies including JCC Holding Co., the owner of the land-based casino in New Orleans operated by Harrah's Entertainment. Former residences were Manhattan, New York, Southampton, Long Island and Chicago, Illinois. He was a man of piercing intellect and curiosity, brilliant thought and focused discipline but his greatest gift was his immense capacity for giving of himself to others. He was above all a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed. He will remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by his wife Sara Jacobson, his three daughters; Carol Ann Weiss, Gela Taylor and Anita Jacobson and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Jacobson:
Please accept my sincere sympathy at the loss of Mr. Jacobson. We, here at Avatar, have often spoken of both you and Mr. Jacobson with fondness and great pleasure.

His time with Avatar may have been short but he left a long legacy of hard work, respect and care for the Avatar employees and always ready to laugh and have a good time. He will be missed.

Cordially,
Patricia Whalen

Our deepest sympathy to the entire Jacobson family. Vivian and I met Ed at the graduation party for Danny when she graduated from high school almost two years ago. Ed and I had a very interesting conversation about the cattle business. I was saddened to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely, Milton and Vivian Ross
