Robert Silberman Obituary

SILBERMAN--Robert S., died at home on September 26, 2007 after a courageous eighteen month battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. Bobby died with his loving family at his bedside. He was born on June 29, 1981, the son of Mary C. and Alan Silberman. He attended The Kent School and graduated from Stamford High School and Colby College. Prior to his diagnosis in March 2006, Bobby worked as a media buyer for OMD in New York. His adventurous and enthusiastic spirit came out in everything he did: in the sports he played, including hockey, lacrosse, snowboarding, hiking and cycling, the friendships he made and the paths he pursued. Bobby is survived by his parents, his two sisters, Lauren and Alison, and his little dog Molly. He is also survived by a multitude of loyal, loving friends who have supported him throughout his illness. Services will be held Sunday at 1:30pm at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT. The family will be receiving visitors at the Silberman's house (769 Rockrimmon Road, Stamford) Sunday through Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, please cherish Bobby's memory with gifts to The Lance Armstrong Foundation (www.livestrong.org) or the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center, 30 Shelburne Road, Stamford, CT 06904. Services are being handled by the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. www.cognetta.com

To the Silberman family,
I cannot even find the right words to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your wonderful son,Bobby. I had the great pleasure of training & working with him at First County Bank about 8 years ago. In my 30 yrs. at the bank,he was without a doubt one of the smartest, sweetest & funniest young men I had ever met. He always spoke so lovingly about his family,THAT is a real tribute to you.
With truly heartfelt sympathy,
Judy Urwin

I am saddened to hear of Bobby’s passing. He and my daughter Lauren were good friends in middle school and high school, and he was often a welcomed visitor at our home. I remember the smiles and laughter as they played and joked. He visited with our family one afternoon this past March after many years, and we were all delighted to see him. He gave me such a big warm hug. He remained that wonderful person I knew. I am thinking about you during this difficult time and sending my heartfelt sympathy. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May the love of friends and family be a source of comfort to you at this time.
