Herman Zuckerman Obituary

ZUCKERMAN--Dr. Herman Charles, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, died at home at age 93. He was a graduate of NYU (B.S. 1934, M.D. 1938) and served in the US Army as Captain, Medical Corps, 1942-1945. A pioneer of mammography, he initiated the use of diagnostic radiology for the breast in NYC in 1954, and was the sole user, teacher, and writer on the subject from 1954-1962. He is author of several publications, lectured worldwide, and continued to practice mammography until age 83. Admired at home and abroad for his charm, humor, and gentle manner, he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice, daughter Andrea Zuckerman, M.D., son-in-law George Fulop, M.D., grandchildren Douglas and Kate Fulop, and brother Seymour Zuckerman. Services will be held on Tuesday October 16, 4pm at Riverside Chapel, 180 West 76th St., NYC.

My sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Herman Zuckerman on the passing of a great man and a wonderful doctor. I, and many of my friends were lucky to have him as our doctor for many years. His was a life well lived, having contributed so much to so many women.
