Henry Clark Obituary

CLARK--Henry Bayard, Jr. died October 19, 2007 in Underhill Center, VT. He leaves his devoted wife, Bettie (Hanahan), children, Thomas M. Clark, Jeffersonville, VT, William H. Clark, Plymouth, NH, Lynn C. Hill, Jacksonville, FL, Catherine C. Bansch, Fairview Hts, IL, stepsons Gene, Mikell and William, Scarborough, SC, six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and sister, Christine C. Wilder, Mantoloking, NJ. Born November 21, 1927 in Elizabeth, NJ, he graduated from The Pingry School, served in the Marine Corps, is a University of Virginia alumni, was vice president of Clark Door Company, Newark and Cranford, NJ. Retiring in Vermont, he invented the CLARK Step-Up Thermostat, and managed the Smugglers' Notch Ski Resort condominiums. An ardent fisherman, he taught his grandchildren the art of fishing. Memorial service: November 9 at 2pm, Essex Alliance Church, All Stage Rd, Essex Junction, VT. Donations in his memory may be made to Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston, VT 05490.

I will always remember Henny's sense of humor. It was his own and quite funny.

Henny was a consummate tinkerer, always trying to improve how things worked, whether by way of his patented step-back thermostat, or blocking off his car so that air-conditioning wasn't wasted on the back seat, or goodness knows how many other things. I will always treasure the photo of him in Mantoloking along with our Henry, and Brie and Saga; when I look at it, both Henrys show the same, unrestrained grin.
