This is very sad. He was a great spirit and I see there was so much I did not know about him. Hugs to you Betsy and your mom.

Dear Martha, After knowing Tom for over forty years, I can think of no other person who is deserving of the multitude of titles of "Great Gentleman, Great Educator, Great Mentor, Great Patriot, Great Marine, and most of all Great friend". There is no one in NJ who could be as loyal a democrat and have the respect and affection of members of the opposite party.

As a member of the Romeos group, I want to say how proud we were to have Tom Hartmann as one of us. His presence in our morning meetings is sorely missed. He enriched our conversations with his knowledge of history and events which took place during his lifetime. How many times one of us seated around the table would ask him to supply facts to clean up a cloudy area! ..and he always knew the answer. He was a great guy, Martha.
My wife joins me in extending deepest sympathy to you and the family. We will be with you on Dec. 1. Ed and Jane Coda.

A humanitarian with vision and perspective. A fun guy with a smile in his eyes. So many will miss his wisdom. My heartfelt condolences.

If he hadn't believed in me, and taught me to believe in myself, my life would have been far different. My condolensces to the family of this great man and teacher.
