Norman Mercer Obituary

MERCER--Norman J., of Manhattan and East Hampton, who was an international business man and renowned sculptor, died in his East Hampton home on Tuesday, November 20th, from cancer at the age of 91. He was born on July 17, 1916 in New York City. Mr. Mercer's artistic calling appeared after his retirement at the age of 62. He is known for his cast acrylic sculptures of color and geometric shapes using the reflection and refraction of light. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 37 years, and his beloved children David Mercer (CA) and Howard Mercer (OR) and Mari Stadler (NY). Mr. Mercer also leaves three grandchildren: Helen Walsh, Valerie Stadler, and Steven Mercer; and five great-grandchildren: Clair, Julia, Meghan, Niaema and Joshua. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on December 16th, at 2pm at Guild Hall in East Hampton.
