Dear Trentler Family,
I was saddened to find out my good friend from the second Pan Am has passed on. Although we only worked together for a few years, Ted and I were inseparable at work. I love him and I learned so much from him in just two years. He always had a great story to tell and we had many laughs at work and away from work. I am going to miss him, but I pray that you find the comfort in knowing he is at peace. We will one day see him again.

Ted hired me as a res agent in 1968 in Chicago. It's because of him that I have such a wonderful extended "family". I am forever grateful to him and very sorry that he's left us to manage for ourselves. What a great person!

Thor and I were saddened to learn about the untimely loss of Ted to his family and friends. Pan Am benefited enormously by his expertise as Thor said no one new Res like Ted did! We have missed connection since our boys were small. Carolyn, when you read this, please know we appreciated your friendship and being close your family in Florida -- yes it was 1981 when our husbands worked together. We send heartfelt sympathy to you and your lovies.

Carolyn, I offer you my sincere condolences. I am so appreciative of all you have done for Ali and she has always said wonderful and heartfelt things about you and Ted. I met you both several years ago, and that is what I regret most. I wish we had stayed in touch. My prayers and thoughts remain with you and your family.

Dear Carolyn,
My family and I are so sorry o hear of Ted's passing and the illness which he fought for a long time. My mother, Jo Vietmeier, has fond memories of Ted as her nephew growing up and appreciated his and your thoughtfulness during the past years remembering her at Christmas time.
I too, have fond memories-- especially the one of my first visit to Chicago with my sister, Sharon (I was only 21 and she about 17). We flew up for a little sightseeing and one day took the El to Ted's apartment and met you as "Rusty." I could tell he adored you. I still recall the steak dinner Ted so joyously prepared for us and then you took us for a drive up north to see a Temple. It was a fun visit!
I'm sorry I never got the opportunity to visit you all in Miami and pray that God blesses you and your dear family during this difficult time and always.
Sincerely,
Shirley (Vietmeier) Fowler - cousin

Dear Mrs. Trentler and Family,
Mr. Trentler was my "big" boss at Pan Am, yet, he was always approachable and kind to me, so my memories are sweet and dear. My heart goes out to all of you and I pray that God's peace and presence abounds. I am so thankful Mr. Trentler is now with Jesus and is in Supreme happiness.
Most sincerely,

Dear Rusty and Family, I miss Max. He was honest, funny and a sympathetic soul.He was the dear man who hired me twice at Pan Am Chicago. I think he got it right the second time :). When I think of Pan Am I think of Max, Charlie and John Ward. What a management team. My condolences are with you.

I remember 'Mr T' very well when he was Reservations Manager at Pan Am. He was strict but always fair. He was dedicated and very much respected by all of us. An exceptional man I'm grateful for having worked with him.
Sincere condolences to his family,

Dear Carolyn and Family,
So sorry to hear of your loss. You will all be in our prayers.
I was hired by Ted Trentler, Jim Corr and Volker Weller in 1966 at the Michigan Avenue office of Pan Am and worked there for 8 years. During my interview with Ted he displayed his wry sense of humor. When he asked me to name some countries in Central America there was a long pause. And after several countries were rejected, he kindly offered to name some countries and I could tell him whether or not they were in Central America. It was one of my favorite "Pan Am" stories.

I hate to begin my message using the phrase, "I remember when . . . " but I do remember when Ted first came to Chicago and lived on South Western Avenue. I remember when we'd go to the Palmer House for lunch at "Door 39" (I believe that was the name of the special room for airline employees only). I remember when we'd stop for "a" drink after work on a Friday night and get home in the wee hours of the morning. I remember Ted very well and grieve for his loss. Ted was a good friend and a great boss.
