Sarah BABER Obituary
Sarah Mason Baber, 86, of Lynchburg, went home to be with the Lord on Fri., Aug. 29, 2008, from her residence. She was the wife of the late Richard W. Baber, Sr.
Born in Jul. 30, 1922, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late George Mason and the late Cora Maddox Mason. Mrs. Baber was employed at Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp. for 31 years and was a tremendous cook at several area restaurants following her retirement.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three daughters; Cora, Virginia and Elizabeth.
She is survived by one son, Richard W. "R. W." Baber, Jr.; four daughters, Sylvia, Betty, Louise and Dorothy; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed and Roger Mason; one sister, Margaret Mitchell; and two loving caregivers, Betty Calloway and Cee Cee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tues., Sept. 2, 2008, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel by the Rev. Stewart Mitchell. Interment will follow in Leffler Memorial Community Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Mon. Sept. 1, 2008, at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 4504 Starkey Road, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014.
