John BURNS Obituary

John Henry Burns Sr.

John H. Burns Sr., 82, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Bedford and Lynchburg, passed away Aug. 21, 2008.

John was born May 16, 1926, in Weehawken, N.J., to the late William and Freda Baedecker Burns.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Sonarman in the Philippine Theatre. He was a retired New Jersey State Trooper and U.S. Postal Service employee.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Dennis E. Burns.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Elizabeth Plue Burns. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John Burns and wife, Amy, of Archdale, N.C.; three grandsons, John D. Burns and wife, Janice, of Raleigh, N.C., William and Carie Burns of Lynchburg, and Dennis Burns and wife, Nordica, of Evington; four granddaughters, Jennifer Johnson and husband, Tim, of Morganton, N.C., Megan Argabrite and husband, Eric, of Charlotte, N.C., and Laura Burns and Carol Burns of Archdale N.C.; 10 great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Morgan, Evan, Corbin, Dennis, Duncan, Ella, Lincoln, Emma and Cole; as well as a sister, Cecelia Coffari of Madison Heights, and brother, Herbert and Mildred Burns of Winter Gardens, Fla.; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh, N.C.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Burns. I used to clean the Burn's apartment in Lynchburg a few years ago. The Burn's were a very sweet couple. Please accept my deepest condolences.
