Mary Frances Mitchell Hackett

Frances Mitchell Hackett, 86, of Madison Heights, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late William Selby "Bill" Hackett, who passed away Nov. 17, 1998.

Born Sept. 26, 1921, in Madison Heights, she was the daughter of the late Howard Lee Mitchell and the late Mildred Eliza Tyree Mitchell. Mrs. Hackett was a seamstress for most of her life and was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church.

She is survived by one son, William Lee Hackett and wife, Leil, of Lexington; two daughters, Mary Faye Hackett Harler and husband, Fred, and Selby Hackett Tomlin and husband, William, both of Madison Heights; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, George L. Mitchell of Elon and Calvin W. Mitchell of Madison Heights; and several other family members, special friends and caretakers, Mary Carpenter, Ginny Miller, Connie Wright and Maxine Clements.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, in Fort Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. George B. Harris.

Family and friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Sept. 10, 2008, at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to Madison Heights Christian Church or the Alzheimer's Association
