Jesse EVANS Obituary

Jesse Everette Evans

Jesse Everette Evans, 86, of Tweedy Road, Concord, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Frances Carson Evans.

Born in Concord on Nov. 28, 1921, he was a son of the late Jesse Davis and Mittie Nash Evans. Mr. Evans was a highway construction contractor with Evans and Nash, and J.E. Evans and Son Construction, and a retired beef cattle farmer. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark Everette Evans and his wife, Helen, of Concord; one brother, Berkley Davis Evans and his wife, Alice, of Orange; three sisters, Odell Wheeler and her husband, John, of Fairfax, Lynette Iachietta and her husband, Anthony, of Charlottesville, and Jeanette Wisecarver and her husband, Charlie, of Rustburg; three grandchildren, Amber Evans, Jessee Davis Evans and Shaina Evans; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah Dixon, Avery Dixon, Savannah Dixon, Ashton Dixon and Makynna Campbell.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Bottecelli and her husband, Phillip.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in New Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 104 and VFW 9855 combined Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in New Concord Presbyterian Church and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Mr. Evans to the Concord Rescue Squad, P.O. box 48, Concord, VA 24538; or a charity of your choice.
