Alcinda HALE Obituary

Alcinda Lee Hale

Mrs. Alcinda Lee Hale, 95, formerly of 2123 Bedford Ave., Lynchburg, departed this life Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008. Born in Bedford County on Feb. 14, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Lorenzo Lee. Alcinda was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie W. Hale Sr.; four sisters, Alpha Hopkins, Lena Taylor, Sarah Herndon and Mabel Hudson; four brothers, St. Clair, Lorenzo, Leonard and George Lee.

Alcinda was an active member of Holcomb Rock Baptist Church until her health failed. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and living life to the fullest.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Alvalaz M. Anthony, Elizabeth H. Booker "E.V." (James), both of Lynchburg, Alcinda Hale-Thorpe "Cindy" (Gerald) of Richmond and Lillian H. Grant (Alonzo) of Augusta, Ga.; one son, Jackie W. Hale Jr. (Sheila) of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Evelyn M. Anthony, Robert L. Miller, Norman L. Miller, Lisa A. Bond, Michael W. Booker, Danielle Booker-Perry and a very special devoted grand-daughter who always gave her undivided loving care as needed, Michelle L. Booker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank the entire Carrington Nursing Home staff for their kind and loving care during her stay.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church, with Pastor Mary O. Johnson officiating and the Rev. Carl B. Hutcherson Jr., eulogist. Interment will be in the Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth H. Booker, 1801 Boston Ave. The cortege will assemble at 1801 Boston Ave. Condolences can be
