James B. Mohler MOUNT SOLON

James Berry Mohler, 58, of Scenic Highway, died Tuesday morning, September 2, 2008, at his home.

Born May 12, 1950, in Harrisonburg, he was a son of John Andrew and Rachel Crosby Berry Mohler.

Jim was a fifth-generation farmer. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. He later served on the Board of Visitors at Virginia Tech and was a member of the William Preston Society. He was appointed to the Virginia Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services and was a member of the boards of Augusta Petroleum Corp., Augusta Farm Bureau and the North River Telephone Co-op. He was a former member of the North River Ruritan and received the Citizen of the Year award in 1990.

He was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for 38 years. He had also served the church in other capacities, including those of elder and trustee.

Surviving are his wife, Alicia Drummond Mohler, whom he married August 16, 1970; two daughters and sons-in-law, Meredith Mohler Seal and her husband Brett of Mt. Solon, and Lindsay Mohler Stuth and her husband Jason of Mt. Solon; two brothers, Jack Mohler and his wife, Linda, of Mt. Sidney and Phil Mohler and his wife, Becky, of Mt. Solon; a grandson, Emory James Seal; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Charles McFarlin officiating.

Friends may call or visit at the residence at any time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Rd., Suite 2, Charlottesville, VA 22903; or to the education fund of Spring Hill Presby-terian Church, c/o Mrs. Cheryl Zeiner, 3649 Spring Hill Rd., Staunton, VA 24401.

Alicia and family, Mark and myself were so saddened by the loss of Jim. I remember when you both started dating . When we were children growing up at grandma and grandaddy's those memories will last forever.
