Charles L. Hughes WAYNESBORO

Charles Llewellyn Hughes, 97, of Summit Square, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at his residence.

He was born August 28, 1911, in Granville, New York, a son of Richard and Bess Thomas Hughes.

Charles was a charter mem-ber of Westminster Presby-terian Church. He retired from General Electric with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Waynesboro Elks Lodge; the Masonic Lodge of Schenectady, New York, where he had served as Grand Master; and the Waynesboro Country Club, where he loved to play golf.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Richard W. "Dick" Hughes; and his two brothers, Eric and Paul Hughes.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Talitha Hughes of Way-nesboro; and many nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Septem-ber 20, 2008, at McDow Fun-eral Home by the Reverend Dr. Jon Lovelady. Interment will be at a later date at West Pawlet Cemetery, West Paw-let, Vermont.

Following the service there will be a reception for family and friends at Summit Square.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Summit Square, 501 Oak Ave., Way-nesboro, VA 22980.
