Anna Longo-Finnan Obituary

LONGO-FINNAN - Anna Jane of Bethpage, N.Y. and Stuart, Fl. on April 23, 2008, one day shy of her 80th birthday. Devoted wife to the late Thomas. Beloved wife of James. Loving mother of Tom (Chris), Bob (Debbie), Patty (Wally), Ken (Patricia), and Greg (Laura). Loving step-mother of Bobby (Carol), Patricia (Tim) and the late Kevin. Cherished grandmother of Tommy, Andy, Jamie, Bobby, Shane (Desiree), Jason, Brian, Kenny, Brad, Kara, Brett, Reid, Drew, Chelsea, Kayla, Sam and Sean. Great grandmother to Sierha, Kayla, Samantha, Sienna and Devon. Survived by her sister, Sharon and brother-in-law Mike (Simone). Anna lived a fuller and more active life than most great grandmothers could hope for. Born in Louisville, KY area, she married a Battle of the Bulge war hero. They moved to the Bronx where she started her family with eldest son Tom. Anna completed her family while living in Syosset and Brookville, LI and by unanimous account she was the perfect mother. She also doubled up as a part time restaurateur, helping her entrepreneur husband and eventually becoming the widowed owner of a local hardware business. As her sons became more involved in the business, Anna began to enjoy the relaxation of retirement and moved to Stuart, Fl. with her second husband, James. There she thrived for 15 years on golf and social activities at the Miles Grant Country Club. At Miles Grant, as everywhere else, she was universally loved and respected. Her 1 ½ year struggle with an illness was typical of her ability to handle adversity with nobility and quiet acceptance. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Anna will leave a void that is enormous. Friends may visit today, 2-5 and 7-9 at Wagner's Funeral Home, 125 Old Country Rd, Hicksville NY. Funeral mass on Friday at 10am, St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2534 Cedar Swamp Rd. Brookville, NY. Interment following at Holy Rood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice Inn, 70 Pinelawn Rd., Melville NY 11747 or the American Cancer Society.

To My Mom, Dad, Jim Finnan & now My Brother Tom, we look back at all the Good Times we had, as Life is so Precious, and we should all be so forgiving. As Christians, Life is full of Trials & Tribulations, which are so supposed to be learning lessons, which unfortunately most of us, fail to see and learn. God has provided us the ability to start over each day, as we ask him and others for Forgiveness. Until we meet again, let us Pray that this speck of time, compared to the eternal life ahead of us, can be filled with joy, happiness and his Spirit. Your Son, Friend and Brother Ken

My Mom, I look forward to seeing you again. You provided love, comfort and security to us. I pray for all our families yesterday and today, that we all will wake up together in Gods Eternal Light. I love and miss you and my faith and obedience for our Lord, is bringing you closer to me today. Your Son 01/17/2015

Ann we miss you. You were so thoughtful. You had a kind and gentle way. You did kind things the were not necessary or expected. Your memory inspires us to treat others the same way. There are many times that our family remembers you and we talk about the times that you and Jim came over our house or seeing you at Timmy and Patty's house or the many other family gatherings. You were always kind, gracious and sincere (Even when you yelled at me not to jump over the Hammock at Jimmy's house). We are always thankful that we knew you.
Love, Tom & Liseth

Now that the holiday's are near I miss you Ann more than ever!!! I was thinking about how much you loved my kids picture for our Christmas card last year. I want to see my father smile again, but he misses you so much-he can't seem to. It has been a really hard year!!! I want you to know you are always on our mind and their is a void now that can't be filled.

I was very fortunate to have Ann as my second mother. My father and Ann had a wonderful relationship built on love and mutual respect. They were fun to watch and be around. Ann was always caring and always listened to what I had to say. My children loved being with her. They would come and visit when she was in Bethpage and she would feed them breakfast or a snack as they told her about their day. She was very interested in what they had to say. She always put other's first. She would always want to help out. She would plant flowers in the garden and weed, she would ask you if you needed something before she went to the store and the list goes on. She would always greet you with a smile. She was never in a bad mood. Even when she was ill she would try to be upbeat. She never complained or asked "why me?" I will miss all of our discussions and her presence. I wish I told her how much I loved her although I think (and hope) she knew. Never take anyone for granted-life is too short.

Our dear friend, Anna, will be missed by so many friends here at Miles Grant. She loved fun and friends, loved dancing and games, loved golf and parties. She had only kind words for all, a lovely lady! She appreciated life and the many blessings. She valued her friendships. We loved knowing Annie!

What a beautiful woman, inside and out. How rare it is to know a person who never had an unkind word for anyone! I am lucky to have had my life touched by an angel on earth; her name is Anna. Now, the angels in Heaven are in big trouble, because Anna has raised the bar. She has left behind so many beautiful memories and so very much love for all who knew her to bask in. How very lucky we all are to have such a beautiful, kind and special angel looking over us all. She will be missed so dearly, and her absence is surely heartbreaking for all who loved her. A woman who embodied everything good in this world leaving us is sad, indeed, but I am sure that all of us would agree that the pain now is worth it because we had the best gift of all in life by knowing her. Rest in peace, Anna, and thank you so very much for the love and kindness you have brought to so many lives.
