Arthur Weisser Obituary

WEISSER - Arthur John, of Port St. Lucie, FL (former longtime resident of Islip, NY) on March 6, 2008 at age 93, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of 47 years of the late Maybelle. Cherished father of Gail Calfa, Lynn Hilaire, and Arthur Weisser (Colette). Dear brother of Irene Steere (John), the late Helen Robelen (Raymond), and the late Theodore. Devoted companion of 18 years to Elsie Kolinek. Adored grandfather of Colleen, John, and Damon. Also survived by his five wonderful great grandchildren and his loving niece Patricia Lekas. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family, extended family and friends. Proud member of Islip Fire Department for 38 years, 60 year member in good standing of the Meridian Lodge, Art retired as Reproduction Manager from Grumman in 1977 and enjoyed a long retirement. He was a great poker player and enjoyed that pastime until two weeks before his passing. A memorial was held with religious and Masonic services at the Overton Funeral Home in Islip. Cremation was private, with the interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Art's family requests donations may be made in his memory to the Treasure Coast Hospices, 10360 S. Federal Highway, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952, or Meridian Lodge No. 691, 592 Main Street, Islip, NY 11751.
