Josephine Pohlman Obituary

POHLMAN - Josephine J., (nee Mallwitz) went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 18, 2008, in Raleigh, NC. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Mallwitz on September 17, 1923, in their family home on 2nd Street in Lindenhurst, NY, as a young lady she worked as "Josie the Riveter" during WWII assembling airplanes. Later she became a bookkeeper, worked until she was 70 years old and moved to North Carolina to be with family in 2003. Surviving are daughter and husband Diane and Cliff Bean of Clayton, NC, grandson and wife Rocco and Joanna Sammartino Jr., of Wake Forest, NC, grandson and wife Anthony and Kristy Sammartino of Orlando, FL, and six great-grandchildren: Kristina, Mariah, Gabriel, Benjamin, Sarah and Ethan. Also surviving is her sister Elsie Legerlotz of Babylon, NY. Nana was a great inspiration to her family, who will forever hold her dear and cherish the times they had together. Lord, we thank you for our Nana, that you gave us the opportunity to be her family. We ask that you help us appreciate the values, ethics she has given us, and the integrity she shared with us. Enable us to use these things to grow in grace and serve you. Amen. The family will receive friends at Breslau Cemetery for a Graveside Service for those who would like to come celebrate her life on Friday, June 26, at 2:00pm.
