Maryellen,
I couldn't believe it when I read your email. I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I know how it feels to lose a father. Your mom and dad opened their home to me a long time ago, and I will always remember my trip to Vally Stream. My prayers are with you, Michael and your mom. I wish I could be there with you but I am in spirit.

We are sorry we won't be able to gather with the family as they remember the uncle who was so special to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, especially Aunt Bette, Maryellen and Michael.
We are so blessed to have so many joyful memories of family parties and holidays spent at 28 North Drive.

Truly the one and only super uncle and dad to so many. Uncle Bill and Aunt Bette's ( Kittens) years of love and care to each other and their family and friends was an inspiration to everyone they touched. Greatest generation for sure and saintly beyond a doubt.
At their 50th wedding anniversary his nephew Chris Hunt delivered his "living eulogy" Thanking his in law uncle and his late dads great buddy for taking over and saying the words that so touched so many hearts in their families moment of profound grief. Everyone there among the extended families looked around and realized thise words applied to all their families. Bill Mullaly and his faithful companion Bette made everyone feel they were "the favorite". It was wonderful for my daughters and neice and nephews to understand the measure of the man they were so blessed to have had in their lives and a testament to the wonderful mom and dad who raised him through the depression years in Bayside. He was the ultimate brother to my mom and never once "couldnt make it" in a time of need.
It was sad to see the pain in his eyes as he fought to stay and help his beloved Bette but so inspirational too. I was there as he was dropped home after six holes last month. His final golf outing. I was blessed to watch last weeks US Open and Tigers stirring performance through the pain. Such a fitting picture of a life so well lived through al the pain he never faltered. He thanked me for coming to get Bette from the emergency room and his last words to Maryellen were "Go home and take care of mom". As Christlike and selfless as anyone I have ever met.
His loss is in body only. His soul and spirit resides and lives in all of us he touched. God bless Uncle Bill.

Uncle Bill was always there for us. He was wise, kind and strong. He was the uncle who could lift a laughing child all the way to the ceiling. I wanted to share this 1990 photo of Uncle Bill and my son Tom. Sending you our prayers and deepest sympathy, The Chessey Family

Mr. Mullaly was a very special and wonderful person. He was our "adopted" father, and like a grandfather to our daughter, Lauren. We remember his wonderful sense of humor and generous heart. It was an honor to know him and we will miss him very much. May his soul rest in peace.

It was very true - he was a father to many more than just Michael and Maryellen. His goodness as a man always was the first thing you took realized when talking to Uncle Bill, and the thing I will always remember.
