I was very saddened to hear from an old friend of Steven's passing. My love and heartfelt sympathy to everyone in the Ellinger family.
I grew up in the same neighborhood as Steven, he was always so boisterous and happy. My thoughts and prayers are with Steven.

Heartfelt condolences for Steve's family and close friends... He was part of the "gang" and although I personally haven't seen him in over 30 years I was able to recall everything about him and mostly his bigger than life smile and laughter...bless you Steve and rest peaceful.....

FROM MY MEMORIES OF STEVE HE WAS A ONE OF A KIND CHARACTER, WITH A MISCHEVIOUS SIDE TO HIS PERSONALITY. HE WAS LARGER THAN LIFE WHEN YOU WERE AROUND HIM. HE WAS A BRIGHT LIGHT IN A DARK ROOM, FORCING YOU TO GIVE HIM THE ATTENTION HE DEMANDED. HE WAS A BIG KID WITH A HEART OF GOLD. ON OCCASION WHEN HE SAW ME AT MY SHOWS, ALL MADE UP READY TO GO ON STAGE, HE WOULD ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO STAND UP FRONT SO I WOULD SEE THAT HE WAS THERE SUPPORTING ME.
I KNEW STEVE FROM BHS AND IN LATER YEARS FROM THE MYRIAD OF BARS AND NIGHTCLUBS I'VE PERFORMED AT THRUOUT THE 80'S AND 90'S IN LONG ISLAND, NYC AND FIRE ISLAND.
JUST RECENTLY I HAD ASKED HIS SISTER DIANE ELLINGER-GREEN HOW HE WAS DOING WHEN I LAST SAW HER AT THE REUNION DINNER I PLANNED AT BOULDER CREEK RESTAURANT. SHE SAID HE WAS DOING FINE AND DIDN'T MENTION IF THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG.
THE LAST TIME I SAW STEVE ELLINGER WAS AT ONE OF MY SHOWS AT A NIGHTCLUB IN HUNTINGTON IN '92. I'LL NEVER FORGET HOW STEVE ELLINGER WOULD BRAG TO HIS BAR FRIENDS THAT HE WENT TO SCHOOL WITH ME AND KNEW ME BEFORE I STARTING PERFORMING. HE WOULD SAY THAT I WAS HIS FRIEND AND NOT TO MESS WITH ME. I THOUGHT THAT WAS SO COOL.
STEVE ELLINGER IS AT PEACE IN HEAVAN. HE MAY BE GONE BUT HIS LEGACY OF LOVE, LAUGHTER, AND SHARED EXPERIENCES WITH EVERYONE HE CAME INTO CONTACT WITH, WILL LIVE ON FOREVER.
