You have my deepest sympathy at this time of sorrow. You may not remember me but I am one of Rev. Durant and Pearl Durant's granddaughters who lived a few houses away from you on 178th St. My mother (Peggy) would bring us over to your house when we were little and we used to climb the I guess you could say monkey bars, read and slide down the hill (driveway) in the winters. Vicky my cousin (deceased) was always with your sister Lorna and her friend Julie. I always remember the warmth and kindness from your Mom and times she came by to spend time with Nanny. I remember your Dad always had a book out or with him, he had a very strong and proud man he never said much to my cousin or sister but his presence loomed larger than life. The Giles were always there for my grandmother and when I moved to CA Nanny and Mrs. Giles kept each other company. Allow me now to express my deepest, deepest sympathy at the loss of your Mom a few years back and now at the loss of your Dad the world has lost two beautiful people that have passed their core values onto their children and those they touched over the years. I will forever remember them. Look to the sun during the day for they are smiling down at you and look to the stars at night for now your parents are together and they are twinkling with anticipation of all the wonders of night that they will share with you in your dreams. Memories are a precious thing and bring you through much. I pray that you hold your memories tightly and this will help you through it. From the Durant Family, Wright Familly, My Sister Christine Taylor and myself Charlene Carnell we wish you and your families much love now and forever.

We are family friends, but I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Giles except through he lives of his exceptional family. Our two families have traveled a mysterious journey together this summer and your support and strength has been a blessing to us. Having had the privilege to know this exceptional man at this time of transition has been an honor and an inspiration.
Peace and Love to You All,
Islah Abdul-Rahiim and Family
