Not much to add than what I said in 2008. Jo was a long time friend from grade school to adulthood. Always had a good time and lots of laughs. Still miss our long phone calls.

Dear Elaine, James, Kathy and family,
I am so sadden by your loss. I have wonderful memories of our mothers and their friendship and ours. Your mom was such a funny little italian lady and we had such good times in her home. I don't know many moms who play majong in the middle of the night. They had such a great friendship. Your mom was very special and is dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Much love, Celeste

My friend Josephine was very, very special. Her sense of humor was incredible (especially when she rolled her eyes)! You always knew where you stood with her and I appreciated that.
I'll never forget the time she invited me to her home in NC because it was my birthday. She made me feel so special and comfortable, and her wonderful family was there as well to help me celebrate. I will miss her greatly.

Elaine and family,
I send our sincere condolences. I recall Mrs Hermann, as I knew her for over 34 years, as a strong, caring women who looked at life as a realist with a funny sense of humor. Never minced words....and "called at" as she saw it! And as a kid growing up in Copiage in the 70's....we needed that! I will never forget a trip I took with Elaine and Mrs H to Brooklyn one hot summer week--- I learned a great deal about my italian roots from her in that short week, which I have cherished for years. Your all in my prayers during this difficult time.
Forever a family friend,

Josephine was a very special person. We were more like sisters than friends. We had a very special and rare friendship that only comes once in a lifetime, and it lasted for 57 years. Our teenage years, growing up were years that I will never forget. We had more fun and laughter than you can imagine. As we got older, even though we didn’t see each other too often, we always picked up right as we left off as though no time was missing in between. We never lied to each other and were able to share all of our secrets and sometimes even our boyfriends. We nourished each other’s spirit and filled empty spaces we didn’t know we had.
These past few years, Bill and I have been so happy to have been able to spend time with her and those great egg salad sandwiches she made for us for lunch. Every once in a while she would forget herself and let us take her out. That was very rare.
We will miss her dearly and she will always be remembered as that “very special friend”.
Love El and Bill

I have wonderful memories of my friend Jo, we were friends from grade school and all of our lives. We kept in touch by phone thru the years and talked for hours. Im really going to miss those calls. There are so many wonderful memories I will treasure forever. She was a lifelong friend and I will miss her terribly. My condolences to her family and friends. I remember roller skating at the rink, Walking to Coney Island, the beach, the broadwalk, the guys, dancing, I remember going to Coney Island and picking up guys to come to my l6th birthday, we ended up with lots of guys coming much of who we hadnt even invited. We had a great time and everytime I look at those pictures I smile. In fact whenever I think of Jo, I smile.
