John Martens Obituary

MARTENS - John A., 75, on August 15th, of Punta Gorda FL., formerly of Babylon Village. Beloved husband of Judy; brother of Richard (Roberta); devoted father of James (Cynthia), William (Andrea) and Roy (Beth); loving grandfather of Matthew (Sarah), Dana, Scott, and Allison. John graduated with a BA from SUNY Oswego in 1957 and a Masters degree from Hofstra University in 1976. John touched many lives with his membership in a variety of organizations. He served the Babylon community as a Mason of Lodge 0793 and Royal Arch Mason, LI Chapter 302. His great love of boating led him from the Captree Power Squadron to the Marco Island Sail and Power Squadron, where he held the rank of Lt. Commander and served as Executive Officer. Upon relocating from Marco Island to Punta Gorda in 1984, he joined the Veterans Motor Car Club of America and the German American Social Club of Cape Coral Florida. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10th. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL, 33909.
