Salvatore Salemi Obituary

SALEMI - Salvatore J., of Woodside, NY suddenly on September 17, 2008, age 95. Cherished husband of Liberty (nee Previti). Beloved father of Joseph and Rosario. Loving father-in-law of Helen (nee Palma). Treasured brother of the late Damiano of PA, Dorothy Rizzo of Brentwood, CA (North.); Rose, Caster, and Jack all of MA and Jean Sokol of Huntington, NY. Fondly remembered by six in-laws, eleven nieces and nephews, nine grandnieces and grand-nephews, and countless friends and neighbors. "Sally" as he was affectionately known, owned, operated and worked in various fruit and produce stores primarily in the Woodside and Astoria areas for over 65 years. Past Commander of American Legion Post 1786. A combat veteran of WWII, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Served with the 3rd INF Div in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Southern France as well as the 10th MTN Div in Northern Italy. Reposing at the Kennedy-Roth Funeral Home 41-45 58th Street Woodside, NY Saturday and Sunday 2-5 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 9:45am at Corpus Christi R.C. Church Woodside. Interment at Calverton National Cemetery.
