Nis Madsen Obituary

MADSEN - Nis, 86, of Lake Grove. Beloved husband of Jytte Madsen, his wife of 47 years; father of Peter and Carsten Madsen, daughters-in-law Deborah and Jennifer, and grandson Ian. Grandfather figure to Christopher Reynolds, Christopher and Matthew McCord. Predeceased in July by his cherished brother Cedde. Born in Tandslet, Denmark, Madsen emigrated to the U.S., joined the Merchant Marine, and served in three wars, including World War II on ships that were torpedoed and sunk in the North Atlantic. Served as a ship's carpenter. Later sailed for the Port Jefferson Ferry, and drove for the Middle Country School District. His strength and kind, gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

To the Madsen Family;

All of us will miss Nis, but we will hold dear the memories of sharing special stories, good food, drink, and laughter. Nis was a male role model for our son. His strength, integrity, and other wonderful qualities have been instilled in our son. We will forever be grateful for the family who opened their arms to us. Love Heather, Bill, Christopher, Eric and Emily
