BURKE – John Joseph "Jack", of East Meadow, NY, on September 28, 2008. Beloved husband of the late Margaret. Devoted father of John and Richard Burke, Margaret dePasquale and Kathleen Frevert. Loving grandfather of Roy and Peggy dePasquale, Gil, Scott and Grant Frevert and Koheian Brooks Burke. Retired Pan Am purchasing agent. Served with Pan Am Africa and the Naval Air Transport Service in WW II. Born on Long Island, Jack was a lifelong aviation enthusiast and an artist. Attended the Art Students League in NYC. First-wave settler of suburban East Meadow 1950. Presbyterian Church Deacon and choir member. Captain Nassau Senior Squadron Civil Air Patrol NY Wing. Member of the Hump Pilots Association, L.I. Early Flyers Club, American Legion Post 1082, VFW Post 2736. Philatelic and Numismatic collector. Avid bowler and patient bird watcher. Visitation will be at the Dalton Funeral Home, 2786 Hempstead Tpk., Levittown on Saturday, October 4th, 2008, 2–5pm and 7–9pm, Memorial service at 8pm.
