Aunt Dorothy was an amazing person. She was an amazing mother to her daughters and always made me felt loved every time I was around her. I miss her but I know she is happy in heaven with my dad, my mom and Uncle Tom watching over all of us.

Left is the window, Right is the door. Up is the ceiling and down is the floor. That's something I recited every day of 1st grade, because of Mrs. Lacey. To this day, every time I say something is on the left or right, I think about that. Every once in a while, when I answer the phone...I think of Mrs. Lacey sitting at her desk with two fake phones...one for us and one for her. We'd stand in line and Mrs. Lacey would call us up to her desk and pretend she was calling us. She wanted to teach us how to answer a phone call properly. "Hello.", "Who's calling please?" , "May I take a message?" , and.... always, "thank you for calling." I remember becoming horribly ill in the Library one morning and Mrs. Lacey holding my one "unaffected" finger down the hallway to the Nurse's office. She must have walked that path a million times, but I have a feeling this one time in particular... was one very longggg walk. :) But, you'd never know it, because she was calm and comforting the whole way there. And, although I was in tears, feeling sick and terribly embarrassed...I knew everything would be ok, because Mrs. Lacey told me it would. She was right.
Every June, we had the most beautiful roses growing in our backyard...Mrs. Lacey was always greeted with a few each day... the stems wrapped with dampened paper towels and tinfoil. :) I remember walking up to the store with my Mom and picking out a pretty scarf for Mrs. Lacey for Christmas. I'm thinking Mrs. Lacey must have gotten 35 scarves for Christmas that year, probably every year. And yet, she accepted every one of them as if it were a treasure. She was a great teacher. She was the first person most of us spent the whole day with, other than our own Mothers. She taught me how to write my name, how to add, how to read and how to answer the phone like an adult and I will never forget her. When I was 6 years old, she was the prettiest and sweetest teacher in the World...and 41 years later, in my mind and heart... she still is.
Rest in Peace, Mrs. Lacey. You have touched more lives than one could ever imagine. God Bless and Thank You.
And to her family and friends...I'm so very sorry for your loss. I'm sure you're comforted with so many fond memories. I'm sorry that I'm just finding out about this today. I was very sad to hear this news, but there isn't a day she was ever absent from my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Tina

Pam, Penny, Patrice and Cindy,
I cannot begin to express my regrets and sympathy on the passing of Aunt Dorothy. Your mother was always a light in my life from the time I was just a little boy to the last time I was able to be there at the house with her. I will never forget the holiday dinners at your home and the amount of family that was gathered there. Those are memories that no matter how old I get or how far apart we are, I will cherish. It is times like these that make me relaize how important family are and I find myself wishing we were all closer to each other to comfort and share with each other during this difficult time. Remember this though, no matter how far away we are, we are always as close as a phone call to one and other. we love all of you.
