Robert Timmel Obituary


TIMMEL - Robert, "Bob" of Flushing, N.Y. formerly of Whitestone and Manhasset, N.Y. passed away on October 11, 2008 in Manhasset, N.Y. He was 97. He was born on March 5, 1911 to Abbert and Amelia Timmel in Whitestone, N.Y. He graduated from Xavier High School in Manhattan and St. John's University School of Pharmacy. On February 22, 1941, Bob married his loving wife, Rita (Stahl) Timmel, who predeceased him in 2002, after 61 years of marriage. In 1947, Bob established his own advertising specialties business, which he continued to successfully operate until the day he entered the hospital. Bob's friendly personality, knowledge of advertising and sincere desire to satisfy the needs of his customers gained him thousands of loyal clients some for as many as fifty years. Bob Timmel was one of a kind: self-reliant, hard working, and always optimistic. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to many. He is survived by his loving children, Alice (Tony) O'Reilly of Martinsville, N.J., Robert Timmel of Washington, D.C., John (Joanne) Timmel of Bedford, N.Y. and William (Caryl) Timmel of Sandy Hash, C.T., together with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 14, 2008 from 2-5pm and 7-10pm. Reposing at Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home 10-25 150th Street Whitestone, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bob on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at 9:45am at St. Luke's R.C. Church on Clintonville Street in Whitestone. Burial will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, N.Y.
