Edward Meissner Obituary

MEISSNER - Edward, Jr., "Big Eddie" a resident of Georgetown, DE since 1995, formerly of Long Island, NY, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in Elsmere, DE. He was 63. Edward was born in Queens, NY, the son of the late Edward, Sr. and Anna Sinnott Meissner. He was a self-employed mechanic and a partner in Sycamore Auto Parts and numerous gas stations, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1963 to 1965. He was a member of the American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro. He enjoyed working on cars, boating and fishing, playing cards, especially with his grandchildren, and taking road trips around the country. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Meissner and Anne Cox and brother, Richard Meissner. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pauline M. Redlew Meissner; children, Walter Licausi, Anthony Licausi, Joseph Licausi, Paula Apicella and Tonja Hughes; two sons from a previous marriage, Edward and Joseph; one brother, Kenneth Meissner and 14 grandchildren all of New York. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:00am in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE, where friends may call after 10:00am. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
