Mrs. Maloney:
I realize this message is late, and for that I apologize, but I feel that I must share with you some thoughts.
I have known your son, Tim, for about 11 years now - since the time he arrived in Gainesville, FL. We met through a common passion - basketball. From the first time I was around Tim. I knew that he was a special person.
My son, Kyle, was a participant in many Gator camps and activities offered by the basketball program. Tim's enthusiasm, compassion, and sincere interest in the campers was immediately evident. This clearly wasn't just a job, but a responsibility that he felt strongly about - to give each player a sense of self worth and to provide them a path on which they could succeed - through hard work and dedication.
He also took a special interest in Kyle and for that I will be forever grateful.
Through the years, we have had many conversations about life, philosophies, raising kids, and family.
I can only tell you that I respect Tim as a true friend and great person. I feel the qualities he possesses today and the standards he represents can be attributed to his parents and his upbringing.
While I never had the chance to meet your husband, I know he was truly a special man. Please know that I, and many others like me, are thankful for you and Mr. Maloney for raising your son and allowing him to be a positive influence in our lives.
Sincerely,
Kevin Moore

Tim, Shirley and I would like to extend our deepest condolences, our love and our prayers during your time of sorrow.
While I did not get to know your father well, I can only imagine the qualities that he possessed because of the person you are. With that I will state something that you probably already know and that is you had to be one of the most fortunate guys on earth to have such an influence. Tim knowing you, your moral character, humilty, your integrity, passion and spiritual presence that you have exhibited during our time together tells me that you had outstanding influences. In order to deveolp into the man you are, you had to have two outstanding people driving the bus.
Tim I can say to you, I know how you feel and it hurts, but I want you to know, no matter what time of day or night if you need an ear we will be there for you. I also want to say to you that friends will be there for a time, but God will be there for eternity. Keep in mine what Proverbs 3:6 says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. In this very trying time, know Tim that God will see you through. The book of Psalms says, "weeping may endure for a night but joy will come in the morning."
Tim you have been a great friend to Shirley and I and have always been there for us, so I know you know that if Shirley and I can do anything for you and your family please do not hesitate to contact us.
I would like to leave with these words from the book of Revelation 21:4&5; which says He will wipe away every tear from their eyes there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain for the old order of things has passed away.
Please remember we love you and send our thoughts and prayers to you.

Tim and family, I want to send you all my thoughts, love, positive energy and deepest sympathies.
I have known Tim for about a decade now, and through that time I know just how deeply he cares for his family and his extended family. Tim is such a rare and special person, and I am lucky to have him as my friend. His enthusiasm and his love for life is contagious, and he has a tremendous impact on all of those who cross his path. His former players and colleagues talk so warmly about Tim and feel a special and treasured eternal connection to him. I know that Tim's father is such a critical ingredient in all the love and laughter that Tim brings to this world.
Tim, your father continues to live on in all the wonderful stories and memories that your family holds in its hearts and memories, and in all of your goodness and the happiness you bring to this world every day.

Thomas Maloney and I were never in the same room at the same time, or ever spoke a word to one another, but I definitely met him. From the day I sat on the O'Dome floor listening to Tim my freshman year, until his passing I not only met Thomas, but will stay connected with him forever. He is someone that you meet and immediatley know what he is all about and that it is something really good and real. Someone you always want to be around and you know you can count on for anything. Anyone that has been exposed to him has been effected in a positive way and I am extremely fortunate that my path crossed with his. I look forward to the time where we will be in the same room together and have a chance to speak...

Tim, Mother Maloney and family words cannot descript my feelings. However, being fortunate to visit, sit and talk with Mr. Maloney during his final days in the hospital was a very blessed experience. The opportunity to share that time with you Mother Maloney and Mr. Maloney is something that will always be special in my heart. I will treasure those precious moments watching you both interact and speak so proudly of Tim and your family. I thank you for allowing me to be with you both. Tim our 25+ years of friendship has help me in all aspects of my life, which is true tribute to your father and mother. Autumn and I pray that each day things get a bit easier for you, Mother Maloney and your family.
Mother Maloney I do ask that you please keep yourself busy and spend as much time with your children and grandchildren. Please get out of the house and go spend time with Tim, Jo and P.J. Tim & Family:
It is with our deeepest heartfelt sympathy that we send these few words of condolence. We were not priveledeged to touch or speak to your Dad due to the miles that seperated us, but you, without fail gave us frequent glimpses of the love, character, and strength of the man you were blessed to call father. Mr. Thomas J. Maloney. Death is the vehicle we all must use to be free from this body, sometimes. time seems too short, but whatever the length it is a good thing to give God thanks for sending that loved one our way. Sometimes we look away and when we look back that person slipped away, then guilt overruns our grief because we thought that prson would never leave, and we did not get to tell them how much we appreciated them. We can never get used to death, we always long for just alittle more time. In the case of your Dad Tim, the friendship you seemed to share; anytime would seem too soon for him to go. God understands that.
He wants you to remember that He (the Lord) is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He will be there for you, just ask the Lord to draw you closer to His heart.
As one widow to another, take time to grieve, with the memory, the warmth, the love, the funny things he said, the laughs you shared together. Give God thanks for this. His tenderness to you. his protection , and provision for the family, give God thanks for this. The children, the grandchildren, give God thanks for this. See, in the Bible God said that one day we can see our loved ones again if we do the will of God. May I encourage you to cast all your cares upon Jesus, He truly cares for you and will never leave you alone, He will be your husband and your provider, the ever present help, and a father to your childrn.
Your son Tim has been a friend to us for ten years, and he has been faithful to keep in touch with us even when he moved from Florida, he has been such a blessing to us, we love and appreciate him so very much. Our hearts go out to him at such a time as this.
May the peace of God and the blessing of His presence rest, abide, and strengthen you along the way. May you find joy in your children as each one of them bear the fruit of their father's loving ways, flashing a glimpse of his presence with you all, in so many simple ways.
I shall continue to pray for you, may you find God's grace in the midst of every step you take with God as your provider and defender. May you recieve the Lord Jesus as your personal savior, so that in due season you will meet with your beloved husband again and rejoyce in the goodness of God for all eternity.
Be strong, and be of good courage for the Lord thy God is with you.
Earth has no sorrows that heaven cannot heal.

I have known Timmy for many years and he has been a wonderful and loyal friend through good times and bad. Timmy has always treated my family like his own and his respect and admiration for my own dad has been such a source of strengh through my dad's sickness. I hope you know that you're in my thoughts and prayers and that I consider your family blessed to have had such a wonderful man leading the way. May he continue to guide you all forever.

I know Tom and and his dear wife Maryanne Maloney through my son-in-law Timothy Patrick Maloney. It was my privilege, along with my wife, to entertain Tom and Maryanne in our home and to have had several contacts with them over the years. Tom was such a congenial, gentle, warm, friendly, loving person that it was obvious to me why Tim held his father in such respect and high regard. I know Tim greatly treasured his father's wisdom, counsel, and advice. This loss, though painful, is bittersweet for Tom's solid faith certainly places him in the lap of his Savior who has promised that we shall see our loved ones again in the glorious dress of New Creation bodies. May this hope sustain you, Maryanne and family, in the lonely times that the days ahead will surely bring. Our prayers are that our Lord Jesus will bring you deep joy in spite of all the dark shadows that may afflict you.

I am Tim's mother through Joanne, so Tim and his family are very special to me. In all the years I have known Tim I have always heard enthusiastic praise for his Father (and his family). Tim loved and highly respected his Dad. I know that they talked weekly. Tim's Dad gave to him and his brother and sister loving counsel on every occasion of their lives. Tom was a man of faith. What a momentous reality that for Tom to be "absent from the body, is to be present with Christ." Maryanne, Cathy, Johnny, Michael, Mary G., Tim, Joanne and families, I am so sorry for your great loss but I am confident that God will graciously minister to you and help you.

Let me start by saying, I am the man I am today, largely in part to Mr. Maloney. When I met Coach Maloney in 1993, I began to get my mentorship, on how to be a loyal, hard working, determined, fair, and loving person. Coach always spoke about his father in such a positive way that when I finally got to meet him, and actually meet the man behind the stories, i was in awe. Mr. Maloney and my relationship became strong over the next 13 years, as him and Mrs. Maloney were always there supporting not only their son, but everyone that they crossed paths with on their way. I feel priveledged to be a part of the Maloney family because of who was at the top and what trickled down to me. I pray that I can someday influence as many lives in the same positive way that not only Mr. Maloney, but the entire Maloney family has. We have lost a body, but we will never lose his soul or our memories because they will live forever through people like my daughter, who because in big part of Thomas J. Maloney, will be a loyal, hard working, determined, fair, and loving person!

I have known Coach Maloney for over ten years having met him when he moved to Gainesville, Florida and the University of Florida. There are very few people in the world that have always been there for me at all times without regard to the situation, but he and Mrs. Joanne are two of the blessed few. I lost my dad in the past year and Coach called me to tell me how proud he knew my dad was of me. In looking at Coach Maloney's example to me as a person and not just a coach, I can not imagine how proud his father must have been of him, and his family. There are so many small things that come up in life that can change your life, and if I could keep track of how many times Coach Maloney has influenced my life in a positive manner, I would need a degree in math. Losing Mr. Maloney is very tough for the family, but you can always take comfort in the things that he gave to the world, and having a son like Tim Maloney is one of the greatest things he could leave us. I only met Mr. Maloney a few times, and I don't have many personal experiences with him, but I was able to share many things with his son, Tim. From having thanksgiving dinner at Perkins at 11pm after being on a plane all day, to hearing words of encouragement when I was playing for Athletes In Action, to having Coach Maloney go out of his way to see that I got started in my career. I'm not a great person with words, and I wish that I could have had the opportunity to tell Mr. Maloney how much his son has meant to me in my life, but there is no question that he can look down from heaven and say that in the most important job he had in his life, being a father, was his greatest success. Thomas J. Maloney's success in life is very evident in the life of his son, Tim Maloney.

I never met Tim's dad but Tim and I often talked of our love and admiration for our fathers. Although I never met Thomas J. Maloney, I know from his son that he was a very special man. Tim and I often shared memories of how our fathers stressed the importance of family, committment, and integrity. I have always felt a heart-felt and deep spiritual connection to Tim. After hanging up the phone the other night, I realized how much we had in common with respect to what mattered to us in life. My condolences to the Maloney family.

Coach Maloney has been a dear dear friend of mine for nearly 30 years. There is no greater testimony for the value of Mr. Maloney's life than for the legacy he has left on this earth of Tim himself.

To Tim Maloney and family--I know because of how you've spoken of your dad you lost your idol your mentor your hero , everything God intended for fathers to be.As Christians we are to live by faith and we are to refer everything to God and live and move in him. We are to never worry because God is in control. And in the words of Padre Pio "Comfort yourself with sweet thought that your Daddy is not dead... He lives a life of joy that will have no end. He lives in Heaven. He lives in the midst of his dearest ones."
God Bless you all, Bob Otrando

I only had the opportunity to meet Mr. Maloney once, but his son has been my coach at UMass for the last three years. Coach Maloney has made a major impact on my life, and this is a true testament to the character of his father. Coach Maloney always speaks so positively about his Dad, and I'm sure his Dad was beyond proud of the way his son turned out. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Maloney. But Tim told me many wonderful stories about him, about his devotion to his family, about his strong work ethic, about his commitment to God. I pray that your family can take solace in knowing that you've been blessed with a wonderful husband and father, and you can honor his life on earth by praising the Lord, with whom Mr. Maloney now enjoys his everlasting life.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

Timothy spoke about his dad often to me, actually I believe he mentioned him to me one way or another in every conversation we have had over the many years. Though I did not get the chance to meet him, I believe he exemplified the word "dad" in every sense. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
