Elsie McMahon-Finken Obituary

McMAHON-FINKEN - Elsie, former long-time Huntington resident, died October 11 in Melbourne, FL, where she had lived since 1979. She was born January 21, 1921 in New York City, the daughter of Elsie (Riebling) and Otto Erbar and worked for more than 25 years as an executive secretary and corporate office manager, initially for The Bank of New York, Wall Street, and later for F.W. Schwerin stock brokerage, Great Neck L.I., and Edwards Engineering Corp. in Huntington. She was predeceased by both of her husbands, John J. McMahon and Kenneth Finken, with both of whom she shared an avid interest in golf and world travel. She is survived by two sisters, Irene Baumann of Connecticut, formerly of Huntington, and Catherine McAndrews of Melbourne; six nieces and nephews, Otto Peter Erbar Jr. of New Ipswich, N.H.; Bruce Baumann (Nina) of Northport, L.I.; Brian Baumann (Molly) of Suffield, CT; Heidi Dauplaise (Rene) of Palm Bay, FL; Edward Erbar (Kelli) of Atlanta, GA; and Kim Conley (Marty) of Melbourne; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Mrs. Otto P.) Erbar of Melbourne; nine grandnieces and grandnephews; and two great-grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated October 16 in Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, FL. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 19, at 1:30 p.m. in Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn. Donations to Brevard Alzheimer Foundation, 4676 North Wickham Rd., Melbourne FL 32935 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
