I remember Sara Smith as Ms. Freni, my Jr. High School English teacher at Babylon High School. I also recall that she either lived at one time in the same house I lived in during my school years, or had family that lived there...16 Howard St. Ms Freni was a charming lady and a teacher you could never forget...I have not forgotten her in the 56 years since graduation. Bless her soul, she will be in my prayers.

Aunt Sally, I will never forget the memory of being at your house as a young girl and playing with the doll house. You will be missed greatly.
When the warmth of the sun touches my face,
I see your smile and feel your embrace.
I hear the whisper of love in the wind
And I know that you are close to me again
The rain speaks of tears and the thunder of pain,
But soon the sun comes the earth to reclaim.
As the days come and go and the world moves on,
I know you're still here, you'll never be gone.
On the night the Angel came and took your hand,
We cried as you left for an unknown land.
But Heaven rejoiced as you came into sight,
For your soul was a diamond, shining so bright!
Now you are with God and the other Angels. Rest in peace.

Sara Smith will be fondly remembered as my 7th and 8th Grade English teacher at Babylon JHS, Miss Freni introduced me to Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol in 1947. I have read it every year on Christmas Eve since. Later on as a reading teacher I introduced it to my students. I also remember her driving my dream car- a 1941 Ford Coupe (green) As a member of the Safety Patrol I would wave her into the school driveway every morning. I'm happy she lived a long life.
