My grandmother, Helen Vachris, was an amazing person. She was one of the most generous people I have ever known. She also had a great sense of humor and an infinite love of ice cream (it is genetic). I did not get to see her as often as I would like, but I will cherish those memories. I will miss her very, very much.

Mrs V and Me.
Mother-in-laws...yuck...most people would say
But, Helen, oh no, there was no better, no way
Supportive and understanding, both classy and bold
There was no better mother-in-law to behold!
Seven years married in the family of Roslyn Heights
Except for the marriage issues, everything felt so right
A whirlwind of gatherings, some drama, much fun
What a wonderful family, I loved each and every one!
Through the years and much moving
I not often enough checked in
But the love of this mother never gave in
She was insightful, so very generous and kind
Understanding and truth was all that I'd find.
Helen, I'll miss you...you always welcomed me in
Regardless of what went on or what was happenin'
'Cause your love knew no boundaries, you had so much for all
I called you Mom to the end, I was grateful for all.
No better Mother-in-law or friend could exist
We had a special relationship, which I will always cherish
You taught me so much, yet listened so intently
Now it's your time to have peace and finally, to rest gently.
I know Jesus now embraces you in his heavenly place
You're probably dancing and have a smile on your face
The pain is behind you, you're light and you're free
No longer struggling and in agony
There's no better place for my "mom" to be
And I'll remember you always........lovingly.
I toast you, I salute you, I wave at the sky
I celebrate your life and wish you a fond Good-Bye!
Your daughter-in-law
