Florence Flynn Obituary

Florence Mary Flynn 1929 - 2008 WILLIAMSTOWN Florence Mary Flynn of 31 Mount Williams Drive died Monday afternoon, July 14, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was a loving and gracious woman who was always devoted to her children and grandchildren. Born in Springfield on Jan. 21, 1929, a daughter of William Slattery Nagle and Madeline O'Connor Nagle, she graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield in 1947 and Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee in 1951, where she earned a degree in elementary education. Mrs. Flynn taught second grade at the Johnson School in North Adams. A faithful communicant of St. Patrick's Church, she generously gave her time to several parish programs, including the Women's and Altar Guilds. For over 40 years, she was active in the parish's CCD program and was well-known for her delicious cupcakes. She was also a longtime member of the Williamstown Recreation Committee and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America #29 Court Margaret. For many years, she held various offices on the Northern Berkshire Sisterhood Tea Committee which held an annual ecumenical celebration. Her husband, Edward T.P. Flynn, whom she married on Oct. 23, 1954, at Holy Name Church in Springfield died May 8, 1985. She leaves her six children, Victoria Alicia Flynn with whom she made her home, William Edward Flynn and his wife, Lorna, of Mansfield, Anna Louise Doerle and her husband, Scott, of Williamstown, Christina Madeline Powers and her husband, John, of Ashland, Nicholas Nagle Flynn and his wife, Jacqueline, of Williamstown, and Maria Eugenia Moody and her husband, Jeffrey, of Dalton, and 10 grandchildren, Catherine Mary Flynn, Elizabeth Ann Flynn, Kelly Ann Flynn, Madeline Anne Powers, Michael Edward Powers, John Christopher Powers, Annie Nagle Flynn, Daniel Kelley Flynn, Caroline Ruth Flynn and Meghan Flynn Moody. She was predeceased by a brother, John Franklin Nagle, who died Nov. 9, 1997. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 17, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 63 Southworth St., Williamstown. Burial will follow at the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Patrick Church, CCD program through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA FUNERAL HOME, 74 Marshall St., North Adams.
