Josephine Pietras Obituary

Josephine B. Pietras 1920 2008 ADAMS Josephine Barbara (Wilk) Pietras, 87, of 8 Hilbert St., died Monday morning, Sept. 1, at her home. She was born in Adams on Dec. 3, 1920, daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Bezak) Wilk, and attended Adams schools. Mrs. Pietras worked at the former Adams Cooperative Bakery on Hoosac St. for many years, until retiring in 1986. Earlier, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. and at Miss Hall's School in Pittsfield. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, where she was an active worker for parish bazaars and picnics. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed knit crocheting, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, picking blueberries, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She leaves her husband, Frederick F. Pietras, whom she married on Nov. 6, 1943; a son, Frederick P. Pietras and his wife, Barbara, of Adams; a daughter, Patricia Aki and her husband, Harry, of Waianae, Hawaii; a brother, Stanley Wilk of Cheshire; a sister, Jean Knybel of Holyoke; five grandchildren, Michael, James, and Sarah Pietras, and Maile Mauai and Harry Aki, Jr.and four great-granchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thaddeus and Matthew Wilk, and by a sister, Mary Bernat. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 4th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 4:40 PM to recite the Rosary and pay their respects. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School or to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. I will always remember Mrs. Pietras & her smiling face at the bakery counter & no matter how many years we didn't see each other that when we did she always remembered me. One of the nicest people I ever met.
I know we will meet again someday.
