Lillian Flaherty Obituary

Lillian May Flaherty 1924 - 2008 WILLIAMSTOWN Lillian May Flaherty, 84, of 118 Church St. died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. Born in Stuyvesant Falls, N.Y., on March 5, 1924, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Jenkinson Reynolds, she moved to North Adams at an early age and attended schools there. After moving to Adams, she graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School with the class of 1942. Mrs. Flaherty worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 18 years and was last employed as a cook at the Buxton School in Williamstown until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. She enjoyed reading. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her husband, William E. Flaherty, whom she married Oct. 28, 1944 in St. Francis Church, died March 24, 1988. She leaves two sons, William F. Flaherty of Pompano Beach, Fla., and James E. Flaherty of Clifton Park, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Megan Morrison, Conor Flaherty, Colleen Flaherty, Erin Flaherty, Lisa Flaherty, and William Lewis; 10 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Alma Millard of North Adams, and nieces and nephews A son, North Adams Police Officer, David J. Flaherty, died July 4, 2001. Two brothers and three sisters are deceased, Joseph and Arthur Reynolds, and Florence Molinski, Eva Clow, and Elizabeth Bergendahl. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Lillian Flaherty will be Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
