Dear Westall Family, I went to high school with Donnie. He was a great friend to all who knew him. Although it has been many years since I saw him last, I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor. Donnie always had a way of making others feel they were important, which was a great gift of his. I will pray for Donnie and for you, his beloved family. I trust he is now safe in God's hands.

I worked with Donnie at Mt. Greylock Regioinal High School, late 1960's. He was an absolute hoot! He was a strict and articulate teacher; but when the teaching was over, he was a funnyman and a really neat guy. At the time I was totally disillusioned by the pretense in Williamstown; Donnie gave me back a sense of humanity and an OK for my cynicism. As life rolled on for each of us with marriages and families, we would always be able to share a laugh in the community. My kids and his kids were friends. After I left Mt. Greylock HS, I worked for 18 years at McCann Technical HS where Donnie's dad was Superintendent for many years. The McCann gang always had their end of the year romp at the Westall "estate" on Bressett Road. The pond was ice cold but after a couple of beers, it was grand.
Donnie was a good man who had a great sense of self and the ability to work with and relate to everyone. I miss him from afar. No one, ever, will be able to toss a cigarette from hand to lip with such perfect applomb as Donnie. Rest in peace and love to his family. Marilyn Wilson (Irvine,Ca.)

Dear Cheryl, I cannot tell you how deeply saddened and shocked we are to read of Don's untimely death. We almost thought it was someone else, but then realized it was your wonderful husband who was so helpful to us when we were looking for a home in the area. He was always so friendly and had a smile on his face. Brien of course remembers him so well from working with him at Mt Greylock High School.

Please know that our prayers will be with you and your family at this most difficult time.

My sincerest condolensces to the entire Westall family. I've never read such an outpouring of compliments, and all are well deserved. Don touched all of our lives, and he certainly touched mine. Even when I worked for a competing office, I still referred to Don on many occassions. The office as a whole would often ask collectively, "What would Donnie do?", whenever we were faced with an ethical question. He was regarded that highly.
There is a hole in the world with his passing.
Someday we'll all look back at Don with a smile instead of a tear, and hopefully that day will come soon.
