I have such fond memories of Barb from our time serving on the Christian Periodical Index team together, as well as at ACL conferences. I particularly loved being able to participate in ACL talent shows with her. Her gracious spirit, fun-loving attitude, and welcoming smile just seemed to draw people to her. I always looked forward to hearing the latest about her church, library, friends, family, and of course, her cats. She will be missed.

Barbara was the kind of person who befriended you instantly, and made you feel like you had been her friend forever. What a shining example of Christian love she was! I look forward to a big, happy reunion in heaven.

When I joined FPC in Opelika my freshman year of college, Barbara, along with others, welcomed me into that family. When I was married a few years ago, Barbara came to wish us well. Barbara has been a great friend, and her kindness will be missed. The love of Christ -

Barbara, was a true friend. No one was a stranger. It was always fun to pick up where we left our last conversation whether it was a month or a year. I will truely miss our "talks."

Barbara was one of the first people to welcome me into ACL at my first conference in 1984, and she encouraged me to get involved right away as a CPI indexer. It's been a pleasure to spend time with her almost every year since then. She will certainly be missed.

Barbara is a witness of a life well lived under Christ's lordship. She exuded his joy and made us thirsty for Him. Her love and care for her father were so beautiful. What a celebration is going on in heaven! Thank you, Barbara's family, for sharing her with us.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Barbara personally, we did communicate on several occasions with regard to FOCLIS/ACL matters. She impacted me as a very caring, kind, and loving individual. Therefore, I sensed that I had always known her. In her eternal home now, she will always be remembered.

Barbara joined the First Presbyterian Church of Opelika a couple of months after we did in 1978. We grew in Christ together and served as deacons and elders together. She was a dedicated Christian, an example for all.

Barbara was a unique bridge that brought Christian librarians, represented by ACL and FOCLIS together by her gracious spirit. I see no one able or willing to continue that role. She knew how to be an agent of grace in her broader professional world, as well as a friend to Christian librarians everywhere.
Personally, I remember with gratitude her fine service on a Wheaton College Library evaluation team I chaired in 2002, when I was Professor in the School of Information, University of Texas at Austin.
She will be missed in the world of research librarianship, especially by her Christian colleagues. Requiescat in pace.

God must have laughed and laughed every day that Barbara lived. She brought Him such joy, I am sure--just as she did all those who knew her. What a companion He created for Himself and us.

I appreciated Barb's smile and enthusiasm for life in the midst of pain and illness. You could count on her for being fun and making serious situations a bit lighter. The Association of Christian Librarians (ACL) will certainly miss her, but Heaven is so much richer for her arrival!

I only had the privilege of knowing Barbara a very short time, but anyone who had the chance to know her at all was truely blessed.
Barbara was my conference mentor at my first Association of Christian Librarians conference in 2005, when I was a still a MLIS student. For that opportunity to have known Barbara, even for that short time, I will be eternally grateful...

Barbara was a beautiful saint of God and though her physical presence is no longer with us, her
spirit will live forever in the hearts of those of us who loved her. She is already enjoying peace and rest.

Barbara was the "very model of a computerized librarian." My first encounter with ACL was made richer by her presence. We "played and laughed" with Barbara as we prepared for and performed in the talent show. And I use the word talent loosely. Barbara's gracious, welcoming spirit left me feeling that I had met a lasting friend. I still do, I just won't see her again until we meet at the ACL reunion in heaven. Thank you Lord for allowing me to make Barbara's acquaintance.

What a pleasure to know someone like Barbara. When my niece went to Auburn from the state of Washington, Barbara said, "Send her in to see me." That was just her way - open arms to one and all. Thanks for being patient with me as I learned how to index for the Christian Periodical Index. May you rest in peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Barbara was an early mentor to me when I first arrived at Auburn. She gave me advice on how to navigate the tricky waters leading to the goal of tenure. We kept up after I left Auburn, and I always enjoyed hearing about her activities, including news about her precious cats. Her last few years were truly an inspiration to many. I thank God for the gift of knowing Barbara.

I first met Barbara in 1984 and have had many wonderful memories from working with her at ACL and with the Christian Periodical Index. She was a woman of true grace and courage and one of vision as well. Despite her battles with cancer she was always very hopeful and encouraging and a witness to others of God's grace. I have been blessed to have known her.

I will miss seeing Barbara at ACL Conference. She was a good friend and always had a ready smile. She faced her illness with courage and grace. The other entries fully express my feelings as well about Barbara.

So often we hear people talk about God, but that is as far as it goes. They say they love the Lord, but they don't always show they love Him. Barbara was not that kind. Barbara not only "talked the talk", but she "walked the walk" which is much more important. Through all her health problems she smiled and kept on loving the Lord. She was a great witness not only to other Christians, but to the "lost" who truly needed it. I loved her as a sister in Christ and will miss her very much. However, I do Praise God that she is no longer tired or in pain. God bless!

Barbara was a one-person welcoming committee. She connected to strangers and soon made them family. She reached out to others in generosity and gracious concern. Her friendship to me through the Association of Christian Librarians, her testimony of God's faithfulness even through many difficult battles with illness, her loyalty to her family and church and friends, her excellence in her profession and in her work for CPI, and her joyful service to others are all examples to me. We will all miss her greatly.

I first Barb in the mid 1970's at an ACL Conference. Over the years we have had many opportunities to visit and share. Her enthusiasm for life, her optimism in the midst of many challenges, and her commitment to Christ are traits I want to maintain in my life too.
Barb will be missed by so many, but we know she is with the Lord.
We shared a Scottish heritage and I think there may be bagpipes playing for her in heaven!

Barbara was a very special person. I enjoyed knowing her and working with her in ACL for many years. It was also a pleasure to share with her in the FOCLIS meetings at ALA. I tried to lure her away from Auburn to join the library staff at Regent University but to no avail. She really enjoyed her home, work and church in Auburn.

Barbara was a beloved and active member of the Association of Christian Librarians. I will always remember her warm smile, humor, enthusiams and friendliness. She worked on the Christian Periodicals Index and taught beginning indexers. In 1995 she was program chair for our conference in Florida. She started a mentor-mentee program to orient first time attendees at our conferences.
She had many health challenges. Now her battle is over. I will miss her, but her contributions will live on.

When I moved to Auburn, Barbara was one of the first persons to extend her hand in friendship. She was the one who usually organized our Friday night outings for pizza and a movie, or a trip to Montgomery to see a play at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Yes, she was our "organizer" on and off the job. But, more importantly, I'll always remember her devotion to her work, her church, and the Christian Librarians' Association. We spent many hours together indexing the Association's Periodical Index; and, to Barbara, it was a labor of love. I'll miss her, and think of her fondly when I look back on my Auburn days. She was a large part of my life when I lived there, and she'll continue to be in my memories.

Barbara was the most Godly, loving, patient, understanding, faithful, gracious, giving person I have ever known. She has been my rock when I felt like I was sinking. She was by my side till the end. She loved me unconditionally which is something I have never known. She was my teacher and with every word, teaching me how to become closer to God and for that I thank her. My children loved her so much. She was the grandmother my kids have never known. She was an inspiration to everyone she ever come in contact with. I love you Barbara, I will miss you so much, I look forward to seeing you again.
