Jonathan Yule Obituary

Lake Luzerne Jonathan B. Yule, of Allison Drive, died Sunday morning, June 1, 2008 at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 60. Born on April 13, 1948 in Mount Vernon, N.Y., he was an area resident since 1992 and son of the late Arthur and Laura (Hoyt) Yule. Jon was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart and various other service medals. Before settling in Lake Luzerne, he traveled to various rural areas of the U.S., living and working in New Hampshire, Vermont, Oregon and Washington as well as Long Island and upstate N.Y. Jon was a carpenter by trade, with many craft skills including photography and leatherwork. After moving to Lake Luzerne, Jon became an enthusiastic fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips to many Adirondack Lakes and ponds, especially Jabe Pond and his own secret "honey hole." Jon is survived by local Lake Luzerne family members: Melissa, his sister, Dan, Lea and Christine Simon, as well as a brother, Jeff Yule and wife, Ronnie; and his sister, Candace Hamilton, of Long Island and their families. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at High Peaks Hospice for their knowledge and support. Services will be private, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jonathan's memory to High Peaks Hospice, 667 Bay Road, Suite 1, Queensbury, NY 12804. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St, Lake Luzerne, NY.

We were very saddened to first hear of Jon's illness and then his passing. May you find comfort to know that he is back "home" with your mother (Aunt Laura) and not suffering anymore. We bet they will plant a garden together up in heaven! Aunt Laura is also greatly missed. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We hope to get together with you all soon.
Peace, Barry and Diane VanSteenbergen

When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little—but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master’s plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know.
Bear your sorrow in good deeds. Miss me, but let me go.
