Aaron Loomis Obituary

QUEENSBURY Aaron H. Loomis Jr., 67, a resident of Queensbury passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving wife, son and family. He was born on June 27, 1940, in Whitehall, N.Y., and was the son of the late Aaron H. and Helen M. ( Bohannon) Loomis Sr. Mr. Loomis retired in the late 1990s from Finch Pruyn & Company after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Italy, Turkey and England. While stationed in England he meet his wife, Susan M. (Constant) Loomis. They were married on June 29, 1963, and would have celebrated there 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Aaron enjoyed going fishing and listening to his rock 'n' roll music. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. His passion however was spending time with his Scottie dog, Sir Jock, who recently passed away in April of 2008. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Aaron H. Loomis III and a sister, Mary Maddison. Survivors include his wife, Susan of Queensbury; one son, Mark J. Loomis of Fort Edward; three sisters: Carol Harrington and her husband, Donald, of Glens Falls, Nancy Loomis of South Glens Falls, and Linda Barrett and her husband, Harry, of Adamsville, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard Loomis and his companion, Joyce, of Corinth and David Loomis and his wife, Priscilla, of Granville, and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by a brother-in-law, Mick Constant who traveled from England to be here for his services. There are also several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who reside in England. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2008, at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Pine View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 11 a.m. till noon on Monday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send a remembrance in his name to the St. Peter's ALS Regional Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, NY 12205. Arrangements are under the direction of the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, N.Y.
