I realize this response is nearly a year after the passing of Barb and Mary. But I wanted to send my sympathies to the family and friends because this was truly sad. I remember picking up a newspaper and read about the memorial, and was shocked to learn that they had passed so tragically.
I knew Barb from Castleton - she graduated from the music education program the same year I enrolled in it. When I moved to the Northeast Kingdom some years later, I found out that she too was living here and making music. We collaborated at an event in Westmore years ago. And the last time I saw her was at IROC...when I came back to the Kingdom, I had every intention of calling her to find out how she was, then I picked up the paper...
I know Mary and Barb are at peace and while it is never easy to lose a loved one, we can all take comfort knowing they are in that "great gig in the sky", playing with that heavenly band.

My grandmother and Aunt Barbara loved life....and loved unconditionally. I will miss our long talks over coffee....or wine...., my grandmothers voice, Barbara's exceptional talent on the piano...I will miss everything about them.
There are so many memories, and so much to be thankful for. We are all blessed to have had them in our lives. I know that they are with me in spirit and in love.
I want to take this time to thank everyone who has prayed for Gram and Barb, and for our family. I would also like to thank all of you that came to the funeral and/or calling hours. We all took comfort in the fact that they were so loved by each and every one of you.

We are so terribly sorry to hear about this heartbraking loss to your family. I remember working at the Grand Union with your mom when I was in high school and loved her laugh and her love of life. I remember of course coming to your home throughout our times at school and always feeling so comfortable around her. We know you will miss them both so, so much. We wish we could make it easier for all of you. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. You will be comforted by your wonderful memories and the memories of all who knew them both. Take care of yourselves.

It goes without saying that Aunt Mary and Barb were the best of the best as far as people go. They were funny, loved life to the fullest, and were always up for an adventure. Aunt Mare was my second mother, and Barb like a sister. The family always included me in their plans, and many happy memories of camping abound. As is normal in life you grow apart from your extended families due to jobs, etc., but you cherish the memories and hold tight to the beautiful people Mary and Barb were. Ellery, Marsha, and Fran...we love you and are thinking of you always.

Fran, Ellery, Marsha & families,
Growing up in the small town of Whitehall resulted in a closeness to friends and families that remains with you your entire life no matter where you end up. And despite the separation and inability to remain in contact with one another, it's always sad to hear when personal and family tragedies strike those we know and had grown up with. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss and offer my condolences to the Willett families.

The last few days have been devastating, I'm sure, but I want you to know that my thoughts are with all of you.
I was deeply saddened to hear that such a tragedy occurred... I was very fond of both Ellery's mother and sister from the first time we met down the Cape.
My only comfort comes from knowing that they're still together, just as they were in life.. and that they'll never be alone.
I hope this provides you comfort as well.
Deepest love and sympathy for your loss.. for everyone's loss.
I'm always here for you.

Our condolences to all as you work through this tragic loss. Although I remember Frannie, Marsha and Ellery from school, it was Barbara who took over piano lessons for my son, Janis Stipins, when he had reached a "higher level"! She was a true gift. Both Mary and Barbara will be FONDLY remembered. May you eventually find comfort in that fact.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear this tragic news. Having lived so close our whole lives brought many thoughts flooding back. Band, parties at our house, Barb falling down Saunders Street hill going to the bus stop in the winter and poopers great sense of humor. I am so sad for you all, but at least they were together, as it should be.
