Joan Stiansen Obituary

SOUTH GLENS FALLS Joan E. "Joanne" Stiansen, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Mary's Haven in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She was 72. Born March 8, 1936, in McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Lotz. Joan resided most of her life on Long Island and specifically Uniondale for more than 40 years before relocating to South Glens Falls in March 2006. She retired from Hempstead General Hospital on Long Island in 2002, after 25-plus years of dedicated service. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her siblings, Jack, Catherine and Ann. Survivors include her three sons: John and Doreen Stiansen of Hauppauge, N.Y., James Stiansen of Las Vegas, Nev., and Steven and Pam Stiansen of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; and four loving grandchildren: Tyler and Kyle (John and Doreen) and Nick and Jenna (Steven and Pam). Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, July 5, at the Arthur White Funeral Home, 315 Conklin St., Farmingdale, Long Island 11735. A funeral service will be conducted at noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Donations in Joan's name may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or Mary's Haven, 35 New St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the tireless and caring "Angels" of Hospice that comforted Joan and her family.
