QUEENSBURY Cecil R. "Reggie" Alden, 81, of VanDusen Road, Queensbury, passed away Friday on Independence Day, July 4, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born Dec. 18, 1926, in Queensbury, he was the son of the late William and Rosetta (Granger) Alden. Besides his parents, one daughter, Marcia Lee Corlew, who passed away June 12, 1980, two sisters, Millie Osborne and Alma Blackbird and three brothers, Thomas, David and Ernest Alden, have all predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beverly Alden, of Fort Edward; one daughter, Merry McGuire and her husband, Daniel, of Queensbury; two sons, Marshall Alden and his wife, Roxanne, of Texas Creek, Colo., and foster son, David Hammond and his wife, Susan, of Fort Edward; a special friend, Lois Steves of Queensbury; one sister, Isabelle McPherson of Glens Falls; 10 grandchildren, Statia, Kerry, Danny, Carol, Peter, Michael, Sharon, Amy, Billy and Lisa; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, with special mention of Ernest Alden and his wife, Shirley, of Queensbury, cousins and dear friends. At Reggie's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Friends are invited to join his family for a graveside ceremony with military honors provided by Queensbury Post No. 6196, Thursday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at Bay Street Cemetery, Glens Falls. Donations, in Reggie's loving memory, may be made to Queensbury VFW Post No. 6196 where Reggie was a member, 32 Luzerne Road, Queensbury, NY 12804. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Glens Falls Hospital, and also to Ernie Alden and his wife, Shirley, for all their care provided to Reggie during the time of his illness. Reggie will be greatly missed at the Wedgeway Barber Shop. It was always a pleasure to see him walk in the door always sharing a joke or two. He was a great man. My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire "Reggie" family. Hold the memories.
