Ernest Centerbar Obituary

QUEENSBURY Ernest George Centerbar Sr., 75, a long-term resident of Upper Sherman Avenue, Queensbury passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1932, in Glens Falls, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Florence Centerbar. Mr. Centerbar worked for the city of Glens Falls, the plugmill and the water department. He retired from the Warren County Department of Public Works. He loved his Harley-Davidson and outdoor farming, fishing, hunting and family get-togethers and his dog, Bigfoot. He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen J. Centerbar who died on Aug. 13, 1987. Survivors are his two daughters, Tammy Smith and her fiancé, Stewart Daniels and Barbara Centerbar and her fiance, Lance Mattison; one son, Ernest Centerbar Jr. and his wife, Connie; grandchildren, Andrew Granger, Richard Smith III, Savana Mattison, Amy Brewster, Matthew Centerbar; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Centerbar and a sister, Anna Mae Tracey and her husband, Roy; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, at 11 a.m. at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, N.Y. Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home. Those who wish may send a remembrance in his name to the American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804.
