Beatrice Mead Obituary

GRANVILLE Beatrice A. Mead went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, from the Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt. Beatrice was born on Feb. 22, 1932, in Whitehall, N.Y., the daughter of Henry J. and Alma (Gordon) LaRose. Bea had worked for a time at Sherwood Medical in Argyle, N.Y., but her favorite job was that of a waitress at the Four Winds Resort in Manchester Vt. This job afforded her interaction with people, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Bea loved flowers and birds, both elements of God's creation. She loved using her God given gift of song, lifting her voice to share her love and praise of God. Beatrice was very committed to the Lord and loved him with all her heart. She lived her life as a true disciple, using every opportunity to help others through her faith. She was known as "Gramma Bea" to all children, not just her own grandchildren. Beatrice was a founding member of the Assembly of God Church in Granville. She was a member of the Granville Senior Citizens. Bea was predeceased by her husband, Elwin Mead, an infant daughter, Dawn Marie, a sister, Alice Ransom, and four brothers: Gordon, Joseph, Richard and Edward LaRose. Survivors include six sons: Daniel Mead and his wife, Rebecca, of Stanton, Mich., Michael Mead and his wife, Deborah, of Salem, William Mead of Glens Falls, Timothy Mead and his wife, Dawn, of Granville, Stephen Mead and his wife, Jemima, of Wolcott, N.Y. and Joseph Mead and his wife, Michelle, of Comstock, N.Y.; two daughters, Sandra Mead of Granville and Jo-Ann Nadeau and her husband, Dwayne, of Granville; three sisters: Marion Shattuck of Whitehall, Shirley T-beau of Malone, N.Y., and Yvonne Paterson of Rutland, Vt. Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her cat, "Little One". A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Bulkley Avenue, Granville with the Rev. William Steinmetz officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Renal Transplant Department of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, one Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
