Herbert Granger Obituary

BRANT LAKE Herbert C. Granger Jr., 80, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born June 12, 1927, in Horicon, he was the son of the late Herbert E. and Mae (Raymond) Granger. Mr. Granger served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a self-employed building contractor for 13 years, was a custodian for Lander High School in Lander, Wyo., and retired as maintenance worker for Bonnie View Motel in Bolton Landing. Herb was a member of the Horicon Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 5513 and American Legion Post No. 964, both of Chestertown. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing and bowling. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Roberta Granger, and one sister, Anice Farmer. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jacqueline O. (Binder) Granger of Brant Lake whom he married on Sept. 25, 1948; one daughter, Joan (Randall) Stumvoll of Queensbury; two sons, John Granger of Brant Lake, and Theodore Granger of Brant Lake; one brother, Earl Granger of Brant Lake, seven grandchildren: Melanie Granger, Jeremy Granger, Mara Granger, Nicholas Granger, Jeremy France, Sean Stumvoll and Lyndi Stumvoll; one great-granddaughter, Ruth Granger, also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Brant Lake with the Rev Robert Limpert officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, 9 Pine St., Chestertown. Interment will be private. American Legion and V.F. W. services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, and Horicon Volunteer Fire Department services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, evening at the funeral home. A special thank you goes to Drs. Castro and Gillani, Donna Boss and the nursing staff on the Oncology Floor at Glens Falls Hospital for their special care and kindness. Memorials may be made to North Warren Emergency Squad, P.O. Ma, Joanie and all,
Too many memories to list however my favorite was the day Pa took me to work with him..He was so patient with me and I can still hear his laugh when I finished my building project. He will be missed but he is in good company and I am sure is telling the angels not to pick the wet beans...
