D. Wilson Obituary

WILTON D. Douglas Wilson, 81, beloved husband of the Rev. Judith E. Pratt, entered into life eternal on Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2007. Born in Providence, R.I., on May 31, 1926, he was the son of the late Gilbert H. and Alice S. (Ballou) Wilson. In 1966, he graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. He held a variety of jobs in his lifetime, including organ tuner, music/choral teacher, groundskeeper and van driver for RSVP. Counted among his numerous artistic talents were those of poet, composer, choral singer, photographer, wood carver and painter. An avid hiker, he especially loved Mount Washington and the Presidential Range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Doug was predeceased by his parents, and his first wife, Louise B. (Coe) Wilson, the mother of his two children. Besides his second wife of almost 10 wonderful, but too short years, he is survived by a daughter, Susanne P. Wilson and her special person, Ronald C. Cardoza; a son, David D. Wilson Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Rhode Island; two stepsons, D. John Oser and his wife, Kathy, and Stephen J. Griffin; a stepdaughter, Katie and her husband, Brian Coons, all of New York. He also leaves two nephews and their families, a granddaughter, and seven stepgrand children. Doug's far-reaching, extended family, includes countless people who called him friend, teacher, mentor and supporter. A memorial service and celebration of Doug's life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, 45 Washington St., Saratoga Springs. Following the service, the family invites everyone to stay and join them for a buffet and to share stories. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 45 Washington St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
