Brent Johnson Obituary

GLENS FALLS Brent S. Johnson, 65, of Sherman Avenue, Glens Falls, passed away suddenly Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 26, 1942, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Wyman and Eleanor (Clute) Johnson. Brent served his country in the United States Marine Corps from Aug. 30, 1960, being honorably discharged June 19, 1964. On Jan. 12, 1965, he was married to Kathleen (Reardon) in Warrensburg by the late Judge DeVries, and then eloped to Oswego, N.Y., where Brent became manager of a Howard Johnson's Restaurant. Since 1964, Brent worked for DeSantis Enterprises, Queensbury, starting as a cook and working his way up to his present position as manager, until his untimely passing. Together, Brent and Kathleen loved camping, mainly at Moreau State Park. He also enjoyed doing work around the house, which included using his tractor and snow blower. He loved animals but, above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially eating popcorn with his grandson, Jared. Besides his parents, his in-laws, Earl and Ruth Reardon, predeceased Brent. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Kathleen Johnson of Glens Falls; one daughter, Theresa Lamson and her husband, Daryl, and their son, Jared, of Selkirk, N.Y.; one son, B. David Johnson and his wife, Susan, and their children, Nicholas, Katie-Lyn, Angela and Garrett Johnson, all of Glens Falls; two brothers, Bryce Johnson and his wife, Joan, of Brant Lake and Barry Johnson, also of Brant Lake; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Friends may call upon the family today, Nov. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Ret. Rev. Terry Mosholder of Lake George officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Pine View Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a gathering at the family home, 65 Sherman Ave., following the burial. Donations, in loving memory of Brent, may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Glens Falls Hospital, towers 5 and 6, for their professional care of Brent. I had the privilege of working for Brent Johnson for 3 years (in the late '70's) when he was the manager of Howard Johnson's in South Glens Falls. He was a very nice, cheerful, hard-working man. I feel fortunate to have known him and have had him for one of my first bosses. I am very saddened to learn of his passing. My condolences to his family. May your memories give you comfort. You are in my prayers.
