Charlotte Burden Obituary

LAKE GEORGE Charlotte Marie Winslow Burden, 84, of Bloody Pond Road, passed away into the loving arms of her Lord on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Eden Park Health Care Center, Glens Falls, N.Y. Born on Aug. 3, 1923, in Lake George, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Mary (Labshere) Winslow. Mrs. Burden graduated salutatorian from Lake George High School, Class of 1942. She met and married Wilbur R. Burden while they were both working at the Mayard Hotel in Lake George. They were married for 64 years and raised three daughters and two sons. She helped her husband build and operate their own business, Wilbur R. Burden Heating Service. Mrs. Burden was a role model of love and faith for her family, friends and church community. She lovingly and tirelessly cared for her husband, Wilbur, who suffered from Alzheimer's these past many years. He died on Oct. 24, 2007, and predeceased her by four weeks. Mrs. Burden loved baking cookies and muffins and she baked pies from the fruit she grew - rhubarb, strawberry and apple. Survivors include two sisters, Violet Allen of Lake George and Louella Bradway of Lake George; two brothers, James Winslow of Poestenkill, N.Y. and Clark Winslow Jr. of Glenville, N.Y.; her five children: Patricia Connors and her husband, Jim, of Glen, N.H., Barbara Barber and her husband, Dan, of Minerva, Rose Gagne of Lake George, Daniel Burden and his wife, Bonita, of Lake George and William Burden and his wife, Mary, of Lake George; 15 grandchildren: Paul Cameron, Laura Cook, Kathleen Martin, Shannon Gagne, Dawn Gagne, Robin Gagne, Kindra Gagne, Seth Piersol, Corey Piersol, Kyle Burden, Sean Burden, Andrew Bacon, Sarah Bacon, William Burden and Brandon Burden; 10 great-grandchildren: Noah Reynolds, Olivia Konelas, Andrew Cook, Charlotte Cook, Daniel Cook, Paige Martin, Lawrence Martin, Cora Gagne, Grace Gagne and Connor Cowles; one brother-in-law, Herbert Burden of Cedar, Mich.; and one sister-in-law, Helen Douglas of Islamarada, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, at St. James Episcopal Church, Montcalm Street, Lake George, with the Rev. Julie McPartlin, rector, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Birch Avenue, Lake George. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, at Stafford Funeral Home, Inc., 90 Montcalm St., Lake George.
