Ross Brown Obituary

Queensbury Ross Jackson Brown, 80, of Queensbury passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, with his loving family at his side following a long illness. Born in Mooers, N.Y., on June 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Percy and Lula (Seamans) Brown. Ross was a longtime member of the Elks, where you would often see him calling bingo. He was also a 42-year volunteer fireman in Peru. Ross was Fireman of the Year in 1982, and grand marshall for the County Fireman Races in 1983, and deputy fire coordinator for Clinton County for over 20 years. Ross was a veteran of WWII, serving with the Army Air Force. He enjoyed many years of camping with family, golfing with friends and singing with the Barbershoppers. Ross and his wife, Bev, retired to Zephyrhills, Fla., to enjoy the warmer weather after raising their family in Peru. Ross was predeceased by his parents, his infant sister, Joyce, and his sister, Gladys. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Beverley, and their children: Steve and his wife, Becky, of St. Louis, Mo., Linda Casey and her husband, Dan, of Thurman, Julie Anderson of Queensbury, Layne of Virginia Beach, Va. and Lori Salotto and her husband, Anthony, of Norton, Mass.; grandchildren: Mikel Brown, Johanna Brown, Jennifer Marrero and husband, Ivan, Becky Denue-Hourigan and husband, John, David Anderson, Bryon Brown, Kyle Brown, Jennifer Price and husband, Bryan, Stacey Salotto and Ross Salotto. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Trudeau and her husband, Terence, of Snyder and brothers, Douglas and his wife, Helen, and Clifford and his wife, Veda, both of Peru, and cousin, Charles Seamans and wife, Cathy, of Avon, Fla., as well as several other cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury, with the Rev. Flossie Bates officiating. Interment will full military honors will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. The family wishes to invite everyone for light refreshments following the interment, to Julie and Bev's home at 125 Grant Ave. Extension, Queensbury. Ross' family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice, Glens Falls Hospital 3 West B and Adirondack Tri-County Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received. In lieu of flowers, Ross' family requests memorial donations be made to High Peaks Hospice, 667 Bay Road, Suite 1, Queensbury, NY 12804 or to the Peru Fire Department, Bear Swamp Road, Peru, NY 12972. Online condolences can be sent to the obituary site of the Press Republican. The B.P.O.E. Lodge 81 will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
